Tanglewood Grill in Gig Harbor has a new owner.
Jean O’Neill took over the family restaurant on June 1.
A new chef, Noe Ruiz, is also in the kitchen.
âWe’re going to make a few changes, but nothing in the first 90 days,â O’Neill said.
She described minor adjustments with perhaps bigger changes on the horizon, but she still determines what Tanglewood customers want the restaurant to look like under her ownership.
A change she already knows she’s making is something the area needs – a lounge with catering service until late into the evening.
âI come from a background of restaurants that usually stay open late at night,â said O’Neill, who owned a restaurant consulting firm for over 10 years in the Bellevue area before moving to Gig Harbor there. four years ago.
She added, âI want to go out and eat a good meal at 10 am, and there’s nowhere in Gig Harbor to do that because most places close at 10 am. I have the impression that we are not alone. More and more people are looking for late service. Our little town is growing.
O’Neill, whose business partner is her husband Joseph Brockert, said she plans to offer a bar menu of sophisticated dishes.
âIt will be an elevated menu with cocktails. We will improve the wine program with more variety, âshe said.
O’Neill expects late night hours to kick off in September.
She also works with Ruiz to assess the restaurant’s menu for the sequel. For now, the steak, burgers, seafood and pasta menu will remain the same. It will also continue to serve lunch and dinner daily and breakfast on weekends.
O’Neill bought the restaurant from Katie and Denny Driscoll, who bought the restaurant about 15 years ago. They also own the Lobster Shop on Ruston Way and Boathouse 19 at Narrows Marina.
