Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill restaurant Swansea opening of 25 Black and White Hospitality sites

Located in what’s known as J-Shed in the city’s SA1 district, it also marks the group’s second opening in Wales under the flagship Steakhouse concept.

The new restaurant pays homage to the building’s industrial heritage with crisscrossing steel beams, exposed brickwork, and bare concrete ceilings.

Comprising 300 seats, the venue includes a newly configured bar and lounge, as well as an outdoor dining and drinking area that surrounds the entire property.

A private dining room is also available with an exclusive outdoor terrace.

The opening of the new restaurant follows an agreement between business partners Steve Lewis and Dave Bellis who took the lease on the property, and Black and White Hospitality, which is the franchise subsidiary of Pierre White’s restaurants.

“We are absolutely delighted that someone of Marco’s caliber is opening one of his restaurants in Swansea,” said Bellis.

“This is great news for the city and great news for the regeneration of the region.

“This is an extremely exciting addition which we believe will provide a first class dining experience and is perfect for this beautiful waterfront location.”

The Steakhouse Bar & Grill menu, developed by Pierre White, includes “a mix of childhood dishes and modern day classics”.

Signature dishes include beef tenderloin served with a fricassee of wild mushrooms, extra virgin olive oil, vintage balsamic and buttered spinach leaves; the “John Lennon” burger topped with melted cheddar cheese, onion rings and Colonel mustard mayonnaise; and roasted Landes lamb rump served with a chive couverture, roasted rosemary juice, buttered green beans and potato gratin.

“This is fantastic news for Swansea,” said Nick Taplin, CEO and President of Black and White Hospitality.

“When we signed the agreement in February, we did not know that we would be facing the Covid-19 pandemic which has particularly affected the hospitality sector.

“So that makes this opening even more remarkable.”

Taplin adds that Black and White is now set to operate a total of 50 sites under the Pierre White name.

Other Marco Pierre White concepts that will feature in the Black and White Hospitality portfolio include Wheeler’s of St. James’s; Mr. White’s English Chophouse; Bardolino; and Wheeler’s Fish & Chips.
